Privacy policy
What this website collects, why, who handles it, how long we keep it, and how to ask us to delete it. It covers vickerylawpllc.com, including the Estate Plan Check-Up and the QSBS Stacking Illustrator.
Please read this first. Contacting us through this website does not create an attorney-client relationship, and information you send before we agree in writing to represent you is not protected by attorney-client privilege. Please do not send account numbers, Social Security numbers, or confidential details about a legal matter through this site. Tell us enough to arrange a conversation and no more.
What we collect, and when
When you send a meeting request
Your name and email address; optionally a phone number, the days or times that suit you, who referred you, and a short note; the topic you choose; how you prefer to be contacted; and your confirmation that you have read this policy. We also record which page sent you to the form, if you arrived from one. We do not ask for your address, date of birth, financial information, or details of your matter.
When you book a consultation
Booking links open Acuity Scheduling. What you enter there, including payment details for a paid consultation, is collected by Acuity under its own privacy terms, not by this website.
When you read the site
Our host, Netlify, records ordinary technical information, such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages requested, to deliver and secure the site. We do not use analytics or advertising tools, we do not set tracking cookies, and the site's fonts are served from our own domain rather than a third party.
The Check-Up and the Illustrator collect nothing
The Estate Plan Check-Up and the QSBS Stacking Illustrator run entirely in your own browser. Your answers and figures are never sent to us, never stored on a server, and never seen by anyone but you. Close or reload the page and they are gone. If you download your Check-Up summary as a PDF, the file is created on your own device.
Why we collect it
- To reply to your request and arrange a conversation.
- To check for conflicts of interest before we can consider a matter. This is a professional obligation, and it is why we keep a record of requests we decline.
- To keep the site secure and working.
We do not sell your information, share it with advertisers, or add you to a mailing list.
Who handles it
- Netlify hosts this site and receives meeting requests, which it stores in its form service and forwards to our inbox.
- Microsoft provides our email, so a copy of each request arrives in the firm's inbox.
- Acuity Scheduling handles consultation bookings and any payment taken for them.
Each processes information on our behalf under its own terms. We may also disclose information where the law or our professional obligations require it.
How long we keep it
We copy each meeting request into our own intake records and remove it from Netlify's form store within 90 days. Requests from people who do not become clients are kept in our records for two years, for conflict-checking, and then deleted. Information about client matters is governed by the engagement agreement and by the record-retention rules that apply to lawyers in Maryland, the District of Columbia, and Washington State, not by this policy.
Your choices
Write to info@vickerylawpllc.com and we will tell you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it, subject to any conflicts or retention obligation that prevents us. Depending on where you live you may have additional rights under state privacy law, and we will honor them. Requests are handled by Chad R. Vickery.
Children
This site is for adults seeking legal services. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has sent us information, write to us and we will delete it.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date below changes with it, and material changes will be summarized at the top of this page for a reasonable period.
